Our Beliefs
God is the one and only living and true God. He is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. God is all powerful and all knowing, and His perfect knowledge extends to all things. He reveals Himself to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
God is Father in truth to those who become children of God. He is fatherly in His attitude toward all people. (Genesis 1:1, Jeremiah 10:10, Matthew 6:9-34)
Jesus is the son of God. On earth, Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of the Father. He took upon himself human nature and did not sin. He died on the cross to pay the price for the sin of mankind. He was raised from the dead in a glorified body and appeared to His disciples as the person He was before the crucifixion. He ascended to heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God, where He mediates on behalf of humanity. (John 1:1-18, Romans 1:3-4, Galatians 4:4-5)
Holy Spirit is the spirit of God, fully divine. Through illumination He enables men to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts men from sin and to righteousness. He calls man to the savior. His presence in the Christian is the guarantee that God will make the believer complete. (Psalm 51:11, Acts 5:3, Galatians 4:6)
- Humans are the special creation of God, made in His own image. He created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. The gift of gender is the part of the goodness of God’s creation.Man is separated from God because of sin. Only the grace of God can bring a man into His family and enable man to fulfill the creative purpose of God. Every person of every race possesses full dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love. (Romans 1:19-32, 1 Corinthians 1:21-31, Ephesians 2:1-22)
Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus as Lord and savior. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord. (John 1:11-14, 2 Corinthians 5:17-20)
Our Values
As creator, God is the giver and sustainer of all things. Because He has bridged the gap, making relationship with Him possible, we seek to live in a manner that honors, glorifies, and directs people to God. (Isaiah 40:28)
At the heart of the gospel is God’s love for people. Each and everything we do flows from the belief that people are worth the effort, time, and expense to express God’s love for them. (Romans 5:8)
Followers of Jesus have been called to pursue people with the good news of the Gospel. We want everything we do as a church to be directly connected to fulfilling the mission. (Matthew 28:19-20)
God created the local church to be the mechanism for fulfilling the mission and expressing His love for the world. Being a God-honoring church who reflects Jesus in what we say and do is the goal of Bridge City Church. (Colossians 3:23)
Not only has God called His followers to live out His mission to save the world, but He has called us to do it together. We will only reach our full potential in Christ as we work as members of the same team. We are better together. (1 Corinthians 12:20)
Individual people make up the church and what happens within their hearts matters to God. We want to daily live in a manner that reflects Jesus in all aspects of our lives. (Proverbs 10:9)
